Hampshire Youth Percussion Ensemble (HYPE)

HYPE members all play in the Hampshire County Youth Orchestra. Percussion ensemble repertoire is learned during orchestra sectional sessions with percussion tutor Paul Lovegrove. The aim of the ensemble is to give percussionists as much learning opportunities as other sections of the orchestra. HYPE perform in regular Hampshire Music Service events during the year.

How to join

Membership is by audition only and open to anyone in full time education in Hampshire. Auditions take place during June / July each year. Deadline for application forms is usually at the end of May but please contact us if you have missed the deadline and we will see what we can do. Although the door is always open for young string players who might want to join our String Orchestra half way during the year, places in the Hampshire County Youth Orchestra are limited and we do advise candidates to apply before the deadline.
